DIN 4753

DIN 4753 is the leading industrial standard for the construction & enameling of hot water tanks, such as water heaters, solar tanks, storage tanks & boilers.

Section 3 of abovementioned standard is focused on the requirements and testing of corrosion protection on the water side by enameling.

DIN 4753-3 describes the following enamel requirements :

  • Coating thickness
    • Minimum
    • Maximum
  • Surface quality
    • Visual defects
    • Protective current
    • Permissable voids
  • Mechanical properties
    • Adherence
    • Impact
  • Physical & chemical resistance
    • Thermal shock
    • Resistance against hot water
    • Resistance against acids
  • Hygienic safety
    • Weight loss limits for various elements

To verify compliance with these enamel requirements, DIN 4753-3 refers and/or describes also the appropriate testing methods.
