Glass-Fused-to-Steel

Glass-Fused-to-Steel or GFS is an expression typically used within the international tank & silo business to describe a vitreous enamel coating applied on large hot rolled steel panels.

These tanks may be used for the storage of water, other liquids, sludge or grain.

Since 1930 prefabricated bolted storage tanks have been used within a wide range of industries, such as power generation / water supply & treatment / wastewater treatment / Irrigation / Agriculture / Food.

The GFS is a so-called factory applied coating, because the vitreous enamel needs to be cured in a furnace at 820 – 850 degrees Celsius.

The resulting coating is extremely resistance against abrasion & chemical corrosion and has a long service life.
