Rheem Manufacturing Co. was established in Emeryville, California in 1925, by brothers, William, Richard and Donald Rheem.
In 1954, Rheem entered the porcelain enameling industry and started to apply a “glass-lining” as interior coating for their water heater tanks.
Nowaday it is still a privately held company with circa 14,000 employees worldwide.
