With the acquisition, Nippon Steel will further expand its activities in the United States and will have an annual total capacity of 86 million tons of crude steel.
This makes China’s Baowu Steel the only company in the world that produces more steel.
Nippon Steel is also well on its way to the strategic goal of one hundred million tons of global crude steel capacity per year.
US Steel will continue under the same iconic name and will maintain its headquarters in Pittsburgh.
