The company announced in a statement on Thursday that it plans to entirely shut down its factories in Łódź, central Poland, while keeping its facilities in the southwestern city of Wrocław partially open, with only the refrigeration factory there being affected.
The firm said the moves could lead to layoffs of up to 1,800 employees.
Beko Europe said that the decision was part of a move to consolidate manufacturing into “two strategically located, modernized facilities in Wrocław and Radomsko, strengthening Beko’s presence in Poland.”
Beko Europe said the closures were part of a plan to address major financial losses and to ensure long-term viability.
